Shown here are two wonderful empire veneered beds.
When the bedroom suit that these beds came from was manufactured the mores of society were such that couples slept in twin beds. To have a wonderful vanity, low boy, and high boy dressers and not have a functional standard king or queen bed made the whole set a waste.
Our task at Paschal Woodworking is to solve this problem.
Having the two twin headboards and footboards to start with makes the task much easier. To extend a bed from full to queen is only approximately eight inches. To extend from full to king is twenty-six inches. Two twins generally yield enough width with little modification.
On this project all we had to do was cut one side off of each twin and fabricate a center leg and transition. With new pillow top mattresses elevation of the headboard must be raised anywhere from six to ten inches to reveal the beauty of the headboard. New bed rails must also be fabricated to accommodate the length of a king or queen mattress. The best bedstretch, and hopefully the only ones we do, are beds that the modification is transparent and the bed does not appear to have been changed.
Be sure and go to "Show Rooms" on our web site to see examples of other bedstretching projects.
